How to design a social media strategy

Social media is probably the most important place to focus your marketing efforts when you are starting out. It is also one of the most difficult places to make any real money because it requires constant engagement. With that being said, if you want to generate some hype and get some sales, social media is the place to be. Some of the best social media platforms for e-commerce are Instagram, Pinterest, and Facebook.

Regardless of your goal, you can use some ideas to formulate your social media marketing strategy. Let's dive in!

1. Identify Your Goals: Before you begin developing your social media strategy, it's important to identify your goals and objectives. What do you want to achieve with your social media presence?

Formulating clearly your purpose is really important because it will outline what social media marketing will do for your brand. Write it down as a statement, and include things like increasing brand awareness, getting leads and more sales, and inviting contacts to share your content. With that said, everything is inspired by something. But don't waste time copying what your competitors, instead try to see why they're doing it that way and what the thought process is behind it.

Here are some questions you can consider: Who are your competitors' targets? Is their strategy working? What platforms are they using?

How often do they post content and where? Do they reply to comments? Are they just trying to sell something or adding value through fun, interesting, or educational content? Find gaps and opportunities that your competitors aren't taking advantage of. What are they missing that you think your target customers would like? For example, let's say a competitor isn't getting much engagement on their posts, and you notice they never end their captions with a call-to-action. Try including this simple detail in your posts to encourage more comments and drive up your engagement.

4. Choose Your Platforms: With your goals and audience and competitors in mind, you can now determine which social media platforms are most suitable for your business.

As there's a certain audience for your content, there's a certain channel that fits it. Make sure the social platforms you choose are right for your brand. As we all know each platform does a different thing, and mastering their ins and outs will be basic for your social media strategy Ask yourself some questions like: Does the platform host your target audience? Is it working for your competition? Does it fit well with the content you plan on making? Is it worth your time and effort to create content for it?

5. Create Engaging Content: Now that you have a content strategy in place, it's time to start producing content that your audience will engage with.

The best way to do this is by providing excellent and valuable content every day. This can be in the form of blog posts, images, videos, and live streams. It's not really a good idea to just post links to your product page. The only links that you want to include on social media are to other content that you are creating, like a blog.

When you are creating content, make sure you are creating something that is unique to you and that you have a lot of experience with.

Content that gets your customers excited about your brand and what you do is the kind of content people will want to share. A great example of this is Virgin America's new safety video that's extremely catchy and fun. Their video for their old safety video was just a boring lecture, but their new one is exciting and engaging, so more people will watch it and remember it. Virgin America's new video has already received over 10 million views on YouTube since it was uploaded. This is how you get people excited about your brand.

6. Monitor and Analyze: When it comes to effective social media strategy, tracking website and social media analytics is essential. Analytics from these channels can provide valuable insights into how people are engaging with your content, who your target audience is, and where you need to adjust your strategy. Additionally, tracking analytics can help you measure the success of your campaigns in real-time and make adjustments as needed to optimize performance.

To calibrate how your strategy is paying off, define some quantifiable key performance indicators, or KPIs, including: Impressions Likes Shares Comments Click-through rate: View duration Conversions You need to hit the social media algorithms to get your content promoted organically, and the algorithm likes engagement. Shares, comments, and likes directly impact every other KPI, so all this engagement should be your main concern.
